Day 32 Yamba to Grafton

On the way out of Yamba stopped at Coles to get a bit of food. Bread rolls, cheese and banana chips. Wouldn't be travelling on the highway today going the back road to Grafton or scenic drive. The first bit was a bit hectic as there was a lot of morning traffic and very little shoulder. So concentration needed. Then I saw a cycle tourist coming towards me so I crossed to his side of the road to stop him for a chat. He was from Korea on his way to Cairns. Told him to watch out for the magpies but he had been attacked already I explained my cable ties on my helmet. Although today it wasn't working very well. Five attacks today, I really am over it now. Followed the river had a little ferry ride over the Clarance. Some lovely quite back roads. Arrived at the camp site just after lunch hot and sunny. Come 3 o'clock had a thunder storm and it was tipping down with rain. When it cleared went for a walk. Iam actually staying just outside Grafton so haven't seen it yet. Apperently a couple of weeks ago they had a huge hail storm that did some serious damage to cars and RVs. Looks like the next couple of days are going to be stormy, hoping it will hold off until the afternoon to give me a chance to get where Iam going. Chilly this evening.

  1. HI Tina i've been following your journey and enjoying the read and pics you've been posting. just a quick word about the magpies (maggies) don't mean to dishearten you i've been swooped pretty badly right up to the end of December. Coffs is a pretty spot you need to go to the harbour and climb the small hill at the end of the walk there it's a very nice view and well worth it. take care Sherrie.
