Day 31 Evans Head to Yamba

Up an Adam early, did a quick bike check tighted the bike chain. Bought some WD40 yesterday so going to use that to do some bike maintenance later on today. Said goodbye to Deb and Nige hope to cross paths with them again somewhere. Today would be mostly on the highway, unavoidable. First a 10km ride out of Evans Head. Couple of km on a cycle path then a little verge. Not a lot of traffic. The highway was fine a nice fast cycle getting up to 27km/h at some points! On route a guy in a car flagged me down Kevin from Brisbane. Wanted to have a chat about cycle touring and equipment, bit random but hey we had a good chat for about 10 minutes. At 50km turned off the highway to Iluka. Wanted to stop at Woombah for a coffee, as it has the most southern coffee plantation but wasn't open. Then cycled threw Bundjalung National Park, a beautiful ride. About 5km out of Iluka the cycle paths appeared, awesome. Got to the ferry spot at just past 12, next ferry 2.30 so stopped in the restaurant and had some soup and a coffee. Tasty. So pictures below of roads show the width of the shoulder on the highway, substantial and the cycle path in the national park, a delight. Was hoping to see Dolphins on the ferry ride but they didn't appear. Beautiful sunny day about 27c. Then a short 2km ride to the campsite arrived just past 3. All in all a very nice day. Spoke to some interesting people, enjoyed the ride and the sun was shining. Iam now about 680km away from Sydney. Checked my bike computer and since Cairns I have cycled 1100km which is pretty cool. Only a couple of thousand to go!
