Day 13 Maria Island - Darlington to Encampment Cove return 21.5km

Up early, slept very heavily. I had a little visitor in my tent last night. A possum was hanging out in my vestibule. While I was making my breakfast the couple from Nailsea popped by had a chat. They saw a Tasmanian Devil in the camp kitchen last night. Which is pretty awesome. It was drizzling while I ate breakfast but by the time the crew were ready to set of on our cycle day trip the sun was shining. Wow what a change, it seems so long since the weather has been good. Today we rode to Encapment Cove and back. The track/trail was more suited to a mountain bike but great fun to cycle without panniers, just had to be aware of the condition of the track. As when the big storm with all the rain hit it washed away a lot of the road. Arrived there for lunch and sat and chatted for a long time. Then continued further on foot as the road was flooded and not passable on bikes. Seemed to take less time to get back. Bikes were caked with mud so went  down to the jetty and hosed them down. We were hoping to get the ferry back to the mainland tomorrow but it's fully booked so we are booked on the morning ferry on Wednesday. Hopefully we won't run out of food as there are no shops on the island. We have been pooling our food and cooking some great meals in the evening. Tonight we had curried beans and vegetables with daal. Very tasty. After tea we went on a Tasmanian devil hunt. No luck, hung out in the camp kitchen for a while playing cards. Maybe we will be luckier tomorrow night.
