Day 25 Derwent Bridge to Lake St Clair via The Wall 15 km

Slept really well and made breakfast in my little mini room! First stop today was The Wall a short 5 minute ride. A wall of carvings by Greg Duncan, self funded and pretty impressive. Wasn't allowed to take any pictures so go check out his website, www.thewalltasmania.com on the way back into Derwent Bridge stopped for coffee and a cake because cycling for 10 minutes can be so exhausting! Then headed out to Lake St Clair a pleasant ride saw a little echidna on the way. Was a bit smoky today I guess the wild fires are still burning. Had a look around the visitor centre and checked out the lake and campsite. Campsite was $25 a night and the ground a bit hard and uneven. So decided to head back to Derwent Bridge, as I was leaving bumped into Rachel a cycle tourist from Switzerland, so hung out with her for an hour discussing routes  etc. Got back to DB and it was a bit late to set of for queenstown so hung out in a picnic area that had toilets. Something which isn't on wikicamps yet. So decided to head to the free camping about 150m down the road. Put my bike against a tree and was looking for a good place to pitch. Ended up sitting with Di and Les from Queensland who have been travelling anti clockwise around Australia in their caravan. Had tea and biscuits with them which was nice and Di showed me some of her photos. Then another cycle tourist was checking out my bike so went over for a chat. Stephen from near Noosa Queensland is heading the same way as me. Had a good chat and invited me to pitch near him as a good flat piece of grass there. Bid farewell to Di and Les and set up my tent. Had pasta for tea and chatted some more with Stephen, then early to bed. Bit of rain this evening but the smoke has dissipated.
