Day 15 Maria Island to Buckland 23.75km

So had a restless night woke up at 3.30 because it started raining and had several mossies in my tent. Awake again at 5.30 still mossies in my tent. Pouring with rain. We are set to leave the island today on the 10 am ferry. So packed away everything wet. Maria Island was great, the wildlife was so good and the fact that there are no cars there even better. By the time we got back to Triabunna it had stopped raining and the sun was shining. Ended up having a long chat with an English couple from London who had taken a year out to travel around the world. Recommended they go to the island. Before we set off for Buckland picked up a package from the post office for M&C. Then treated ourselves to a snack and coffee at a artsy cafe in town. Decided to take it easy today as our legs were a bit stiff from the hike yesterday and has been a while since we have been on the road. We cycled the 7 km to Orford and stopped to stock up on food at the supermarket. Then onwards to Buckland another 18km away. The wind was pretty strong so that slowed us down quite a bit. Met a guy from Montana cycling the other way. By the afternoon the temperature has risen to 28c. We arrived in Buckland at around 4 and headed to the pub, Ye Olde Buckland Inn, the free camping is on their land behind the pub. Had a nice cold beer and a good chat to the landlord Steve. Said we would be back later and set up our tents. There are no showers here so had a basin wash. Then cooked tea. Tonight's meal, mashed potato, carrots, peas and parsley sauce. Tasted really good. Then back to the pub where we drank too much but had a great night. Thanks to our host Steve. Back to the tents, the starry sky was beautiful. The first picture is from day one on Maria Island.
